Medical Assistance

Here’s our frequently asked questions

What does Travel Support Europe do for insurers and assistance companies?

We coordinate medical assistance cases on your behalf. Your medical director decides the level of care. We make it happen on the ground: finding a suitable provider in the local healthcare system, booking the appointment, arranging transport, and handling the logistics, documentation and follow-up until the case is closed. You keep the customer relationship and the medical decisions. We do the coordination work behind them.

All of Europe. We have our own local presence across the Nordics, Benelux, the UK and Ireland, and quality-assured partners across the rest of Europe. Germany is part of our core network for roadside and mobility. Every case is coordinated from our own 24/7 alarm centre in Varberg, Sweden, whichever country the traveller is in.

Yes. We are a full-service provider: medical and roadside assistance from the same alarm centre, under one agreement and one point of contact. For partners whose travellers drive, that matters. An illness and a breakdown on the same trip do not become two suppliers, two case files and two invoicing flows.

Our team takes the case 24/7, every day of the year. We gather the details and, working to your medical director’s decision on the level of care, identify a suitable provider and arrange it – a general practitioner, a specialist, a dentist, hospital admission, an ambulance or an air ambulance. Local systems differ: in some markets a specialist requires a referral, in others not. Knowing how each country works in practice is a large part of the job.

We then handle documentation, cost follow-up and closure, and keep you informed along the way.

In our core-network markets we work with providers we know directly and have worked with for years. Elsewhere we work through quality-assured partners. Providers are selected and followed up on quality, not only on price, and our own case handling is certified to ISO 9001.

Yes. That includes hospital admission and coordination, air ambulance transport and repatriation. We also coordinate body repatriation and funeral services – the cases where families need someone to take charge of the practical side, in a language they understand.

That is part of the service. We handle case documentation, cost follow-up, invoicing and the administration around each case, so that what reaches you is a coordinated and documented case – not a stack of loose invoices in several languages.

English is our working language. Cases are handled and coordinated in English – with you, with the traveller and with local providers across Europe – which keeps one case file, one terminology and one audit trail from first call to closure. Where written correspondence needs to reach a traveller or a provider in their own language, we translate it. Medical translation is available as a service in its own right.
