Electric vehicle assistance

Electric vehicle roadside assistance
Regardless of whether you drive an electric vehicle (EV) or a traditional petrol-powered car, there are many reasons why roadside assistance may be needed. Some of these issues are more likely to occur when driving an EV. Not surprisingly, most are connected to charging and range. Therefore, planning ahead can be essential for you to have a smooth and enjoyable trip with your EV.

Electric vehicles have a limited range – If the range is miscalculated or if you do not have access to a charging station, you may find yourself without sufficient battery power. Blasting the air conditioning or heater, a lot of uphill driving, or simply speeding with a heavy foot will all affect your range.

It is important to keep in mind that different EVs use different types of chargers for high-speed charging. When planning your charging stops, you’ll want to make sure that you choose fast-charging stations that offer your type of plug. Find your charging stations across Europe with apps such as Plugshare, ChargeMap, or apps specific to your EV’s brand.

Other reported issues that might need roadside assistance for electric vehicles include:

Charging equipment failure: Sometimes, the charging equipment may malfunction, preventing the driver from charging their EV. Roadside assistance can assist in diagnosing and fixing the issue or arranging for a tow to a charging station.

Flat tyre or mechanical breakdown: While not specific to EVs, these issues can still occur and require assistance. Electric vehicles may have different tyre specifications or mechanical components, so it’s important to have a vehicle assistance service that is familiar with EVs.

It’s important to note that the availability and specific services provided by roadside assistance for EVs may vary depending on the country and the assistance provider. It’s always a good idea to check with your EV manufacturer or insurance provider to understand the roadside assistance options available to you.
